Tottenham Hotspur defender Amanda Nilden has signed a new contract with the club, keeping her at the club for an extended period.

She originally joined the Lilywhites on loan from Juventus, where she won the treble in the 2021-22 season and helped Spurs reach the Women's FA Cup final.

She then made the switch to the WSL side ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and instantly impressed, producing consistent, strong performances for the badge and as a centre-half this season.

Under white and blue, she made 19 appearances in her debut season, now notching 71 appearances and three goals and also remains fully committed to her role in Spurs's defensive line.

Discussing her new deal, Nilden told club media: “I'm very proud, it's a happy moment for me. To see the growth of the Club has been amazing. Now to be a part of the next steps of the journey, it's an exciting moment, and I'm looking forward to that."

Women's manager Martin Ho added: “Amanda gives us flexibility through her ability to play at both full-back and centre-back.

Those roles ask different questions of a player: when to advance and support the attack, when to hold position and protect the team, and how to recognise danger from different areas of the pitch. Her ability to take on those responsibilities gives us options in how we build with the ball and organise without it.

This new contract gives us the opportunity to keep developing her game and increase her influence within the team. An important next step is growing as a leader, communicating with greater conviction, demanding more from those around her and recognising the impact she can have on our collective standards. We believe in her capacity to take that responsibility, and we are delighted she will continue that development with us.”

Nilden began her career in Sweden before spending an initial two seasons with Brighton and Hove Albion between 2018 and 2020, before returning to her home country. Internationally, she grew in Sweden's youth teams, making her senior team debut in 2021 and featuring in both European Championships in 2022 and 2025.
