TRANSFER TALK: GEMMA BONNER JOINS DENVER SUMMIT FROM LIVERPOOL
Updated: Aug 2

National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club Denver Summit have announced the signing of defender Gemma Bonner on a season-long contract from Liverpool.
Bonner arrived in Merseyside from Manchester City, where she won the FA Cup (twice) and the Women's League Cup, scoring ten goals between 2018-21 and played under current head coach Nick Cushing.
She returned to Liverpool in 2023, where she made her 135th career appearance for the Reds and captained the team with back-to-back FA Women's Super League titles between 2013-14 and left the club having represented them for nine seasons.
Across a career spanning more than 15 years and over 360 apperances in the NWSL, Women's Premier League and WSL, Bonner also represented Racing Louisville in the NWSL between 2021-22 and the Lionesses, where she earned 12 caps and helped the team win the SheBelieves Cup in 2019.
Summit General Manager Curt Johnson said:
'We’re thrilled to bring in a proven winner with this level of experience. She’s competed in multiple leagues and consistently found ways to make an impact wherever she’s been.
That kind of veteran presence is invaluable-not just for what she’ll contribute on the field, but for the example she’ll set in the locker room. We’re excited to have her as part of our organisation.'
